Biography
Dr. Carlisle George is computer scientist and lawyer (barrister). He was called to the Bar of England and Wales at (London) and the Bar of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (St Lucia)聽where he maintains a practicing certificate as an Attorney-at-Law. Among other qualifications, he holds a doctorate (PhD) in Computer Science from the, a Masters degree (LLM) in Information Technology & Communications Law from the 聽and a Master鈥檚 degree in Business Administration (MBA) from 果冻传媒 University. Dr George has a wealth of experience in academia. At 果冻传媒, he is an Associate Professor, 聽Programme Leader, Chair of the Computer Science Research Ethics Committee, Convenor of the (Aspects of Law and Ethics Related to Technology) research group, and Director of Studies (Supervisor) for several PhD students. He has previously worked at several higher education institutions including: Singapore Institute of Management, Northumbria University and The London School of Economics ().听 Dr. George is the author of many focusing on his research interests that include: information technology law; Internet law; intellectual property law; privacy; data protection; and legal aspects of eHealth, digital forensics, data science, artificial intelligence (machine learning). He has co-edited two books focusing on legal, ethical, social and governance aspects of and 聽respectively and has lead the organisation of several international . He has also been involved in several UK and EU funded projects/studies as a senior legal consultant/expert and/or researcher聽 including: A UK NiHR Project investigating the Effectiveness of Surveillance Technologies to Prevent Suicides at High-Risk Locations; An EU-wide study assessing the completeness and conformity of measures of Member States to transpose Directive EU 681/2016 (the Passenger Name Record Directive); An EU-wide study on the legal and political context for setting up a European identity document (); An EU-wide study focusing on an overview of the national laws on electronic health records in the EU Member States and their interaction with the provisions of cross-border e-health services ( and ) An EU research project on Visual Analysis for Sense-Making in Criminal Intelligence Analysis (); An EU research project on developing a Semantics Analysis Monitor for the illegal use of the Internet (). Dr. George has been actively involved in numerous external academic activities including as an invited conference speaker, conference programme committee member, workshop co-organiser聽 and member of the editorial board of the . 聽He has served as an external examiner for several universities and is affiliated to several professional organisations including as a 聽 (贵贬贰础),听 (CMgr MCMI), member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, and member of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 9.2.
