Research activities

Patrick鈥檚 research focuses on investigating avenues for behaviour change approaches towards the adoption of more sustainable lifestyles, and mechanisms towards the adaptation of sustainable business models. He has a particular interest in sustainable and transformative consumption and questions of post-growth and degrowth. Recently funded research projects include interdisciplinary longitudinal work examining the potential of sustainable small and medium fashion enterprises to advance the circular economy, work on sustainable food systems and post-growth business models. Patrick leads major research initiatives including work with IKEA UK on co-creational behaviour change approaches, work with the National Lottery Community Fund examining support mechanisms to drive social cohesion, sustainable development and community wellbeing, and work across London鈥檚 Boroughs on implementing their Green Economy Action Plan.

Biography

Dr Patrick Elf is an Associate Professor - SustainableBusiness at the Centre for Enterprise, Environment and Development Research(CEEDR) at 果冻传媒 University and Co-Investigator at the ESRC-funded Centrefor the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP) at the University ofSurrey. Patrick鈥檚 research focuses on investigating avenues for organisationalchange, sustainable business models as well as the mechanisms facilitating behaviour change approaches towards the adoption of more sustainablelifestyles. He has a particular interest in sustainable and transformativeconsumption, the circular economy and questions of post-growth and degrowth.

Patrick received his PhD from the University of Surrey wherehe conducted research at the Centre for Environment & Sustainabilitytogether with IKEA UK & Ireland, exploring the potential of multinationalcorporations to support people in their aim to live more sustainablelifestyles.

During his PhD, he wasselected as one of 100 global talents to participate at the first聽towork on innovative solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).聽

Prior to his academic career, he worked for the LondonSustainable Development Commission/Greater London Authority.
